Origin - Ethiopia Single Origin
Our most popular light roast at Karol, Origin is a seasonal rotation of our first coffee love and the origin of our coffee journey at Karol: a floral forward natural processed coffee from Ethiopia. Great for drip, pour over and espresso.
This coffee comes from the Testi Ayla Washing Station, in the Bombe village of Sidama, Ethiopia. Chelchele coffees tend to have a nice backbone of sweetness from toffee and/or soft nuts like almond, with a floral and citrus overtone.
The Sidama region is known for producing the most coffee at the highest grades in Ethiopia, and the geography explains why this is. This region spreads across fertile highlands, where half of the land is cultivated. The surrounding rivers and lakes along with the very high elevation results in cool weather and fertile soil. These factors, in combination with over 100 inches of rainfall per year, cause the coffee to ripen slower than in any other region in Ethiopia.
